When you add an official account as a friend on LINE, LY Corporation provides information such as your LINE internal identifier to the official account's owner. Without this information, official accounts have no way of messaging you.
When you link your LINE details with a third-party app, LY Corporation may also share your profile details or other information with the app's providers. This is only ever done with your permission.
Our contracts with official account owners and third-party app providers set rules for the safe storage of user information based on the eight OECD Privacy Principles. By ensuring that our partners follow these principles, we're continually working to maintain the safe storage of our users' information.
Previously we've prioritized our ability to meet our users' demands for smooth and seamless delivery of a wide variety of services and features, without putting any particular controls on the point of origin for those services. This is partly why we can't always confirm the country or region where official account owners and third-party app providers are located.
When an official account owner or third-party app provider registers their country or region with us, that information will be shown as below on either the official account's profile page and the third-party app's linked details screen.
